Candidates Forum Scheduled for 9/8

Five days before Rockaway’s special election, the Rockaway Civic Association will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Thursday, September 8, at 7:30 p.m. at Peninsula Preparatory Academy (formerly Stella Maris High School), located at Beach 112 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard.

All five candidates for the two open offices that include, Phillip Goldfeder and Jane Deacy for the State-Assembly seat vacated by Audrey Pheffer; and Bob Turner, David Weprin and Christopher Hoeppner for the U.S. Congress seat vacated by Anthony Weiner are expected to attend. Candidates will begin by introducing themselves, presenting their views and then answering questions from locals.

“We feel it a civic duty as a Rockaway association,” Noreen Ellis, President of the Rockaway Civic says, “to provide an open and public setting for all our members and our neighbors to visit with the candidates.

This is a very special election, and important for all to see and hear from the candidates who are vying to represent Rockaway both in Albany and in Washington DC.”
