Patrick J. Moogan
Patrick J. Moogan, a 70-year Rockaway resident, died on August 8.
Moogan was born in Westport County Mayo Island, Ireland and emigrated to America in 1921. Moogan served in the U.S. Army as a member of the Fighting 69th Regiment in World War II and awarded a Purple Heart Medal for his service. He worked as a custodial engineer for the NYC Board of Education. Moogan helped establish a soup kitchen and participated in charitable work.
Moogan was a member of Order of St. Francis, Legion of Mary, St. Camillus Golden Age, St. Thomas More Golden Age. Moogan also served on the Sacred Heart Prayer Group - St. Francis de Sales. He was a member of Holy Ghost Fathers and a Eucharistic Minister of St. Camillus.
Moogan was preceded in death by his wife Mary (nee O’Toole). He was survived by his son Sean Moogan.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. A funeral mass took place at St. Camillus Church, Rockaway Park, New York. Interment followed at St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, New York.
