Positive Recovery

Dear Editor,

I would like to share with you, and the residents of Rockaway, the very positive experience I recently had during my month-long stay at Promenade Rehabilitation Center. I had never been in any type of rehab prior to this past May, and I was unsure of which one to choose. I was certain that I made the right choice one or two days into my stay.

I felt as if I was at home and even enjoyed the food! The nurses, their assistants, and the maintenance staff were caring, capable, efficient and very hard-working. They did what had to be done in a very timely manner and they were most courteous and respectful.

I had a below-the-knee amputation, and no words of praise could possibly do justice to both the physical and occupational therapy I received. When I received my prosthesis at home, the expert said that I “hit the ground running.” I am able to walk with the aid of a cane already.

A heartfelt thank you to the second floor staff, and to Mrs. Vogel and Mr. Specter.

ARLENE OTTON
