Graybeards Crown Champions At SFDS Classic



Last Thursday evening, the first day of the St. Francis de Sales Summer Classic Championships was held. The 40+ basketball championship had Team White vs. Team Gray. In a defensive battle Team White held Gray to 10 points in the second half to capture the title by winning 42-28. Terence Mullin was named league MVP after capturing the season scoring and 3-point shooting title. Terance Moriarty won Rookie of the Year. Kevin McGack was presented with the Referee Sportsmanship award. The Graybeard 40+ champions: (Top) Pat Nash, Terence Mullin, Darren Franchock and John McCann. In the 50+ division, Team Blue played Team Gray for the old boys crown. Gray took home the hardware when Joe Keenan scored 8 un-answered points in the second half. Captain “Gee” Linares took home his first championship since fourth grade intramurals, which was a 42-year drought. Framing specialists were hired to transport the signed uniform to the Linares residence late that evening. Bobby Bruns won the 3-point title and scoring title, Brian King won MVP and Bob Benya took home Rookie of the Year. Larry McGuire won Commissioner of the Year for the fourth straight year.
