The Inner Voice

Commentary by Marilyn Gelfand

We know we all hear about the importance of love, but love means many different things to different people.

To some it means the ultimate sacrifice, to others it means the ultimate stupidity and weakness and to most it is what is written on our favorite Hallmark card.

Spiritual love is something different.

When one is spiritual, one is filled with the love of God/Universe. It is always there if one opens up and believes in it.

It has no object, but rather fills us with a beautiful feeling and it becomes a part of us always. When our heart hurts, it is because we have chosen to close this door because of something that has made us unhappy in our lives. But, the love is always there.

If you are worried about being abandoned by someone in this life, it is possible through death or a change of heart by someone else. But, not from the love that surrounds us.

To be whole, we can always be filled with this energy, and then let it flow through us into the world. Others may feel it or not or like it or not.

We can pick and choose our way through the activities of our day. It is up to us to pay attention to our own energy and align ourselves with thoughts that are loving and balanced.

If we are out of balance, chances are there is something that we can learn from the experience. We can then ask ourselves what is it that we are clinging to or what has such a strong hold on us. Then we may have to revise one of our thoughts or ways of thinking. Then the loving heart can open again.
