The World Champions Karate Team competed at the AAU National Karate Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, which was held June 26 to July 2. The tournament hosted over 3,000 athletes from throughout the United States, as well as contestants from several international teams. This was the 21st year Sensei Hodes has brought teams to the AAU National Tournament and “every year is a thrill,” he proudly stated.

The children and adults gave 100 percent in every event, weapons, Kata and Kumite (sparring). The students compete in their age group and rank division in all three events.

It is a grueling day starting at 8 a.m. and ending at 4 p.m. for the juniors. The adult events were spread out over two or three days for them to recuperate and be prepared for the next event.
