Tribute For Lifelong Rockaway Resident

Tom Boland was a lifelong resident of Rockaway who, for many years, was very active as a coach for Rockaway Little League and a prominent member of the Rockaway music community as a singer, guitarist, engineer and producer.

For the past 30 years, he worked with many of the most notable bands on the peninsula. His colleagues have organized a musical tribute that will be held at the Point Breeze Clubhouse in Breezy Point to honor his community and musical contributions.

The event will begin at 5:00 p.m. and will include performances by the Kerry Kearney Band, Gerald Bair, Brian Happeny, Three Sheets to the Wind, The Grayriders and the members of Tom’s band, Rock Patrol, along with other guests.

In addition to the music, there will be 50/50 raffles and a Chinese Auction. Initial contribution is $30 and includes food and beverages in addition to the 8 hours of scintillating live music. Additional contributions are encouraged and may be done directly at the door or through active participation in the 50/50 raffle and Chinese Auction.

Contributions by check may be made to the Graybeards, a 501 c-3 organization, and are tax-deductible. If you cannot attend the event but would like to contribute, you can visit the Graybeards website, www.graybeards.com and click on Events.

It promises to be a memorable evening and guests have already arrived from Texas, Florida and Massachusetts, as well as closer locales. Parking will be limited to the bands and staff for the event so all are encouraged to use car service or other means of transportation.

Don’t miss it.
