On July 13, Councilmember James Sanders Jr. graciously performed the ribbon cutting honors for the new X-ray Suite in the Emergency Department of Peninsula Hospital Center.

The new digital X-ray technology now in place in the Emergency Department is the very latest in state-of-the-art digital technology and was obtained through a New York City Council capital funding allocation. Jeff Papkin, RT, (R)(MR), director, Imaging Services Department, said that, “This new technology has greatly enhanced the speed, accuracy and ease with which a precise diagnosis can be made by our physicians in the Emergency Department and has generated a great deal of excitement among the staff.” Sanders was given a tour of the new room and a rundown of the outstanding diagnostic capabilities now in place. “This is exactly what happens when we all work together,” said Sanders. “I am extremely glad that I was able to assist in this project.” Vice President of Operations Allen Corby, representing Peninsula Hospital Center, thanked the Councilmember on behalf of the hospital and reiterated the importance of working together. “The availability of this state-of-the-art technology to the residents of the Rockaways represents the best of government and the best of local business working together to ensure quality patient care.”
