Into The Danger Zone

By John Weber

On Sunday, July 24 at 1:00 p.m., in Fort Tilden, Bernie Feuer, a Rockaway historian, will be telling a little known American adventure story about the first Navy aviators to take flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

In 1919, 18 brave Navy aviators left the Rockaway Naval Air Station and displayed great courage, ingenuity, and inventiveness in their quest across the Atlantic. The story itself is a story of our country which exemplifies American heroism, success, and survival.

According to Feuer, this is a story that our country needs to hear in these difficult times; it brings back American pride in our country.

You can follow these brave American flyers, as they flew “Into the Danger Zone,” at the Rockaway Artists Alliance’s sTudio 7 Gallery in Fort Tilden.
