After reading Ms. Richardson’s comments in your 1 July paper, one would conclude that Congressman Weiner is a terrific person. He likes our schools and firehouses, he wants the elderly and middle class to stay in New York and he does not like the filthy rich. Oh, and it is the bad Republicans that caused all of our problems, they love the filthy rich and want to boot out of the state all the middle class and elderly people. He is such a nice man and he should never have resigned his office. After all, he only sent a disgusting lewd x-rated picture of himself to young women, had vile and vulgar communications with young women and had been in contact with teenage girls. In addition, it is just possible he was set up because he wanted to run for Mayor.
Wow, what a guy – he did not commit any crimes and given a little therapy, young women and teenagers will never have to worry that this United States Congressman will ever again try to corrupt their morals and character. No disrespect to Ms. Richardson, but this is so much pure unadulterated rubbish. I won’t burden anyone in discussing Anthony Weiner’s politics, but let’s try to sort our way through a lot of rhetoric and blather and draw some logical and reasonable judgments.
At the outset, our deficit is coming close to 15 trillion dollars, true? The Government can’t continue to spend more money than they receive, true? The Government has to make some hard choices and make some serious cuts in their entitlement programs, true? The Government has to come to grips with balancing the budget, true? No decision has been made at this moment on what, where, and how much to cut, true? Both parties are still in the discussion stages, true? Oh yes, the filthy rich I believe has been defined as $200,000 for a single person and an income of $250,000 for a family of four, true? It was the Democrats that came up with these figures in defining the rich, true? So let us all hope and pray that cooler heads will prevail with both parties and right choices will be made to bring America out of this disastrous situation. Don’t just look back at the last Administration’s record, also look closely at the record of the present Administration in trying to evaluate and make an informed judgment.
Ms. Richardson, you said Anthony Weiner just made a mistake. That is not true. He made many mistakes and would have continued to make these so called mistakes if he wasn’t caught. When are we going to stop making excuses for our Government officials who engage in erotic behavior? A pat on the backside can be considered sexual misbehavior and may not be cause to remove a person from office. However, God help us all if we close our eyes and excuse a salacious pervert with no moral character in a Government position where he can have an influencing affect on our young adults and teenagers.
He is out of office, Amen.
