SJEH Donates To Joplin Tornado Victims

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital donated and packed 200 care kits that were sent to help the victims of tornadoes in Joplin, Missouri, and surrounding towns. The care kits, which were purchased with donations from the Hospital and staff members, contained toiletries, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, wash cloths, bars of soap and more. They will be distributed by a local mid-western charity, Heartto Heart. Instrumental in organizing and supporting the event were Averie Baynes, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Physician Liaison, and Nelson Toebbe, Chief Executive Officer, St. John’s and Episcopal Health Services. Assisting with packing the care kits were: Lorraine Gabbola, Imaging; Elvin Anthony, Imaging; Patricia Gillespie, Imaging; Naasira Salahuddin, RN, Nursing; Arlette Bustamante, RN, Nursing; Kathy O’Shaughnessy, Obstetrics/Gynecology; Joslin Ultsh, Birth Registry; and Maryann Strauss, Obstetrics/Gynecology.
