Cops Offer Reward For Fireworks

Police officials are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of persons possessing or distributing fireworks, NYPD said this week.

With the July 4 holiday coming on Monday, the commanders of the two local precincts urge that residents should celebrate the holiday safely and to stay away from street-sold fireworks.

“If you use fireworks, you or somebody else could be badly hurt,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “If you have fireworks, the police will confiscate them and you will be arrested and your car or your business will be closed or confiscated.

Concerned citizens can anonymously report the delivery, sale or use of fireworks by calling 911 for a crime in progress or 311 to provide information.

“The life you save may be your own,” police sources say.
