Marriage Now Meaningless

Dear Editor,

I wish to express my disappointment with N.Y. lawmakers for legalizing same-sex marriage. The decision marks a clear attack on traditional family values. Same-sex marriage is an oxymoron. It is unconstitutional.

The Bible clearly and unequivocally condemns homosexual acts. No scientific study has found a gay gene, gay DNA, or gay center of the brain.

The family is the fundamental cell of society. The family – and through it, all human society – has its source and origin in marriage. Marriage is ordered to the procreation and education of offspring.

As the basic expression of man’s social nature, marriage exists solely between a man and a woman who, through their personal gift of self to each other, perfect one another into a communion of persons. This human development of the spouses and the proper nurturing of children who are the fruit of such unions make an immense contribution to the common good of society.

Marriage, New York style, has now become meaningless and open to endless revisions and re-definitions.

Presently, those who profess

Presently, those who profess gay affection have every protection. Cuomo's law is not about tolerance--which we mostly practice and have--it is about acceptance, on a cultural level. There will be unexpected ramifications due to this law, none of which could be remotely construed as positive. The Governor truly believes this to be a feather in his cape, but I genuinely doubt it. A mock poll may claim that the public supports this, but I doubt that. We'll see just how popular this move was as the ACLU makes hay with it, to undermine the institutions of faith that the Cuomo and his minions assured us wouldn't fall under attack due to the capricious, politically correct and unnecessary law.
