What Looks Pristine Sometimes Must Be Fixed



An egret forages for fish on the Great JoCo Marsh in Jamaica Bay. Although the scene, with the Manhattan skyline in the distance, looks pristine, the marsh grass in Jamaica Bay has been dying for years. Now, the city and state have made an agreement to begin to fix the water treatment plants that ring the bay so that the bay can restore itself. For story, see page 9.
