Samaritan Hands Hosts Successful Wellness Walk

The St. John Baptist Church Samaritan Hands Unity, Health and Wellness Walk occurred on June 18. It brought together people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths to walk as one family. This walk was to increase and meet the need for health education through healthy meals and exercise.

Approximately 120 participants, led by the Solid Rock Battalion Drum Core, walked on the boardwalk from Beach 74 Street to Beach 126 Street in Belle Harbor. This was a statement of healthy living and unity. For the past year, the Samaritan Hands Health Education programs of St. John Baptist Church at 74- 05 Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Arverne have offered a rare opportunity for people of all faiths and various community organizations, to come together around a shared interest in learning about healthier living.

SJBC’s Samaritan Hands Health Education Program hopes to continue to invite an increasing number of participants in healthy living with the assistance of Addabbo Health Clinic personnel. They hope that this can be accomplished through partnerships with weight loss programs, medical and dental agencies, and all others interested in helping them to heal the community.
