Save Engine 328 Rally Set For 6/27

A rally was held last year in front of Engine 328. A rally was held last year in front of Engine 328. Nearly one year ago, community leaders, firefighters, politicians and residents held a massive rally to save Engine 328 from mayoral budget cuts. Once again Councilman James Sanders Jr. is holding a rally in support of Engine 328 which is one of 20 firehouses across the city in danger of closing.

On June 27 at noon, the community will hold a “Save Engine 328” rally in front of the “Big House,” the Far Rockaway fire station at 1615 Central Avenue. Members of the City Council, and of the United Firefighters Association (UFA) are expected to lead the protest.

Engine 328 has been threatened with closing every year since 2008, as part of proposed budget cuts.

The multi-engine firehouse is home to Engine 328, Engine 264 and Ladder 134. The last time the mayor tried to cut Engine 328 was just last November when he proposed to close it during overnight hours.
