From The Artist Studio
ARTSPLASH 2011 is just around the corner. Watch this column and the RAA website for info about this major juried annual fall multimedia celebration of the arts. Performing and visual arts fill sTudio 6, sTudio 7, the outdoor sculpture garden and RAA’s indoor and outdoor stages.
“Guardians of the Sea and Riders of the Waves”:
RAA invites artists and non-artists to submit original artworks, memorabilia, old and/or new photographs to build an exhibit that celebrates and brings to life the sights, sounds, tastes; the spirit of Rockaway past and present. The magical Rockaway of summer beach, sand and surf.
Catch those precious moments in time, flitting by like summer fireflies. Memories can be made in an instant – a moment ago or a generation ago. They can happen in any season. They can be joyous or bittersweet. They can delight or they can stagger. We are seeking vibrant images of lifeguards, surfers and all aspects that contribute to celebrating the beach life on the Peninsula of Rockaway, Queens, NY.
All art forms are welcome, including but not limited to: sculpture, drawing, video and film, printmaking, photography and mixed media. Also images or objects of Rockaway memorabilia from any era for loan would be appreciated to give life and immediacy to the exhibit.
Submission deadline by email: July 23, 2011
More details to follow.
