St. Edmund Celebrates Photos And Essays


Mr. Raphael, Celeste Hernandez, Cassidy Green, Mrs. Seija and Mr. Lorenzetti Mr. Raphael, Celeste Hernandez, Cassidy Green, Mrs. Seija and Mr. Lorenzetti At the annual St. Edmund Preparatory High School Incoming Freshmen brunch two eighth grade students were recognized for their winning photo and essay. Celeste Hernandez who attends St. Francis Xavier School in Park Slope won the St. Edmund Preparatory High School photo contest and Cassidy Green who attends Mary Queen of Heaven won the writing contest. Hernandez’s beautiful photo was taken after a snowstorm in Prospect Park. Green wrote a heartwarming essay about a family friend who taught her the importance of “giving from your heart.” Green and Hernandez each received a $500 savings bond and their teachers, Ms. Seija and Ms. Glodowski, each received a gift card to Staples. This is the third year St. Edmund Prep sponsored the contests for eighth grade students in both public and private schools. It is a means to promote literacy and the arts. The contests were moderated by Joan Kowkabany and the members of Teens Teach Reading.
