Rockaway Rotary Hosts School Awards Luncheon

School honorees show off their awards as they gathered for a photograph following the Rotary Awards ceremony. The Rockaway Rotary Club held its annual School Awards Luncheon last Wednesday, June 1, at the Bungalow Restaurant on Beach 92 Street on the bay. The club presented awards to 16 students from elementary, middle, and high school graduating classes throughout the peninsula. The graduates were honored by the club in recognition of their contributions to their school and community that best exemplify the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”

The honorees included: Ryan Suglia of St. Camillus School; Raymond Marten of St. Francis de Sales School; Deanna Bobadilla of St. Mary Star of the Sea School; Mairead Gormley of St. Rose of Lima School; Dominique Teesdale of PS 42; Ajalae Reynolds of PS 105; Thomas Frerks of PS 114; Mirza Ahmed of PS 183; Dariana Ayala of PS 225; Aurora Amarante of PS 253; Beatitude Olufemi of Goldie Maple Academy; Anthony Kuar of Middle School 53; Avinash Persaud of Scholars’ Academy MS; Kwadwo Twumasi of Scholars’Academy HS; Taisha Khalil of Channel View School for Research MS; and Raymond Foureau of Channel School for Research HS.
