Local Students Take Part In HOSA Competition
The Academy of Medical Technology Chapter of Health Occupation Students of America recently participated in the New York State HOSA Competitions and came home winners, taking 14 medals and earning the Third Place school overall in New York State. Medals were won in Medical Spelling, Medical Math, Prepared Speaking, and two in Public Service Announcement.
The students studied and practiced for their competitions after school and faced worthy opponents from schools statewide. Students from all over the state gathered in Syracuse to face each other and reach for success. The local students walked in as the new kids on the block and left with the respect of students from upstate and down. A spokesperson said, “We could not be more proud of these amazing young professionalsin training.”
Health Occupation Students of America is a registered 501c3 organization that offers health occupation students the opportunity to use the skills they learn in class to compete for medals and scholarships to colleges. The organization is currently working hard to raise the money needed to send these extraordinary students to national competition in Anaheim, California on June 22, 2011.
