Pheffer Honored By Parks Department

Parks and Recreation commissioner Adrian Benepe presents former Assemblywoman, now the Queens County Clerk, Audrey Pheffer with a plaque honoring her “years of dedication to Rockaway’s Parks” during the ceremony opening the peninsula’s beaches on May 27. Pheffer served in the state assembly for 24 years. It was because of Pheffer that there are now surfing beaches in Rockaway, which explains the surfer on the plaque. She took over as Queens County Clerk on May 12, after she was appointed to the position last month.
