Rockaway Rotary In New Orleans



Members of the Rockaway Rotary Club went to New Orleans last week for the 102nd Rotary International Convention. Rotary has helped in rebuilding New Orleans after Katrina and continues to assist the people of New Orleans. Philanthropist Bill Gates was a featured speaker. Gates, through his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has partnered with Rotary in its 20-year battle to eradicate polio, a tenacious disease that continues to infect and paralyze children in developing countries. Rotarians believe that with hard work and help from Gates the last hurdle to completely eradicating this disease throughout the world will be overcome. Dennis and Barbara Morris with Ray Klinginsmith, the president of Rotary International, in the House of Friendship at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans.
