Rockaway Memorial Day Parade Draws Sparse Crowd

After a weather scare early on Monday morning, the Rockaway Memorial Day Parade stepped off from Beach 129 Street and Rockaway Beach Boulevard under sunny skies with the temperature in the 80s. Although both the numbers of marchers and watchers seems to drop each year, this year’s parade crowd was enthusiastic. After a quick ceremony at the Four Chaplains Memorial on Beach 129 Street, the parade moved to Memorial Circle on Beach 121 Street for a ceremony hosted by the Jewish War Veterans and then to the Doughboy Memorial on Beach 95 Street.
