The shooting occurred in a building across the street from the busy Peninsula Hospital Center. The shooting occurred in a building across the street from the busy Peninsula Hospital Center. Shots erupted near an Arverne school and a hospital center last week, sending two men to the hospital and police looking for the shooter.

Police say that patrol officers responding to a call of shots fired at 6:05 p.m. on May 11 found two teens shot inside of 51-24 Beach Channel Drive, across the street from both PS/MS 105 and the Peninsula Hospital Center.

Both of the teen victims remain unidentified, but police say that an 18-year-old was shot four times; twice in the back, once in the left buttocks and once behind his left knee.

The other teen, a 19-year-old, was shot once in the left hip. Sources described the two victims as “uncooperative” with police, declining to identify the shooter or speculate on why they were targets.

Both victims were stabilized on the scene by emergency medical technicians and then transported to the trauma center at Jamaica Hospital, where they were treated for their gunshot wounds.

The 19-year-old was treated and released, sources say, while the younger man was listed in stable condition.

Detectives from the 101 Precinct Squad are investigating.
