WISL To HostAnnual Luncheon
The Women’s Industrial Service League, Inc. (WISL) will sponsor its Annual Scholarship and Awards Luncheon at Antun’s where four senior citizens and four senior high school graduating students will be honored for outstanding community service.
The theme of the luncheon, “Empowered by the Hull Legacy,” is dedicated to the memory of WISL’s founder, Eleanor B. Hull. The community, including religious and political leaders, will converge to witness the extravaganza. The Reverend Darren A. Ferguson, Pastor of Mount Carmel Baptist Church, will deliver the keynote address.
WISL is pleased that this year’s senior citizen honorees are active participants at their houses of worship and/or in their communities. They are committed to positively impacting the lives of all with whom they come in contact. These award winners include: Mable Floyd of Rockaway Revival Center; Mother Annie Gardner of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church; Deacon Will Hawkins of Mount Carmel Baptist Church; and Sister Eunice Martin of First Baptist Church of Far Rockaway.
The outstanding high school graduating seniors have exhibited the attributes of positive role models in academics, leadership, extracurricular and community services. The honorees include: Sarah Ayalew of Channel View School for Research; Aaron C. Greene of Baldwin Senior High School; Taniqua Huguley of High School for Law Enforcement and Public Safety; and Adedeji Jenkins of Beach Channel High School.
The luncheon will be held at Antun’s in Queens Village, New York on Saturday, June 4 from 11:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. For information on what many anticipate to be a grand event, please contact WISL Luncheon Chairperson Nell C.
