St Francis de Sales School Celebrates Easter
As Christians around the world celebrated Lent and the Easter season, St. Francis de Sales School also marked the holiest time on the Christian calendar in a most holy and reverent way. The Lenten season started with the students and faculty gathering together at an Ash Wednesday service. During the season of Lent students were able to prepare for Holy Week in a variety of ways. Classes gave alms by filling their mite boxes for the poor. Some classes prepared by attending weekly Stations of the Cross and receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
On Wednesday, April 20, the St. Francis de Sales School family gathered together in the auditorium to celebrate the traditional Passion Play. The sixth grade class reenacted the Passion for grades preK-8, parents and teachers. It was said that their moving performance captivated the audience and helped to bring the story of Jesus’ suffering, death and resurrection to life for all. Further, it was said, as children around the nation prepared for the Easter Bunny to arrive, the students at St. Francis de Sales knew that there was much more to Easter than eggs and chocolate. And who better to teach them but their fellow students.
