Post Office Stamped Out
News Events/Travel Editor/Host WNYX - TV Morning News • 12:00 noon on UHF Chs. 35 & 26 Monday - Friday

The Federal Government is closing the Fort Tilden Post Office. That will force Breezy Pointers the inconvenience to travel to Beach 116 Street for their postal needs. The reason, I have been told, is that the building is too old and it would be too costly to repair. Perhaps one of the local establishments in Breezy or Rockaway Point could resume some services offered by the US Post Office.

The need most certainly is there. It may be in the works.

I visited the Green Expo at the Grand Hyatt. It is amazing how these products are helping to keep our earth cleaner: Earth Friendly laundry detergent that smells like lavender; Dishmate soap for dishes; Earth Berries (soap nuts tied in a small bag to throw in the washing machine to clean clothes); SKOY is a cleaning cloth that outlasts 15 rolls of paper towels, (I have tried it and it works).

Throw out your germ infested sponges and get SKOY, it is reusable and washable; Voleano Lemon and Lime burst made from real lemons and limes, better than real lemons. Rather than wrapping gifts, give a beautiful gift bag. Saves not only paper but your precious time.

At the Italian Tourist Board, 360 Fifth Avenue, guests learned about the Marche region in Italy comprised of historic and cultural villages. Beautiful countryside and villages where you learn more about Italy from the ancient buildings and stories behind them. You may have an interesting vacation there.

Are you a cake lover but have trouble with gluten and dairy products? There is a new cook book on the market called “Babycakes” by Erin McKenna that has recipes for donuts and muffins and cakes that are made gluten and dairy free.

In honor of the Royal Wedding, Antiqua and Barbuda (English Provinces surrounded by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean) held a NYC English Tea event whereby all guests had to wear a hat, at AKA, on East 45 Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues. Fortunately they also served wine and a nice buffet. The suppliers gave me these travel deals:

Antigua at Jolly Beach Resort, 5 nts w air, all incl. pp $1089, hotel only $110p.p. Sandals: $1759 w air, hotel only $235, Pineapple Beach, $1243pp.
