Cops Identify Body In Jamaica Bay
Police sources said this week that the body found on the bayfront near Shad Creek Road in Broad Channel on April 14 was that of a 30-yearold Brooklyn man, but his cause of death and how he came to the bayfront remains a mystery at press time.
A spokesperson for the police department’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI) identified the man on Monday as Chad Price, of 1447 East 49 Street, in the Flatlands section of Brooklyn.
The city’s Medical Examiner, however, says that the cause of death in Price’s case is “still pending investigation,” which means that the ME is awaiting toxicology tests before making a determination. Those tests typically take a month or more, sources say.
Patrol officers responding to a call of an unresponsive male on the shoreline near 931 Shad Creek Road, right across the street from Public School 47, found the body at about 7:27 a.m. on Thursday, April 14.
Fire Department EMTs also responding to the call declared the man DOA on the scene.
His body was transported to the city morgue by EMS ambulance.
Detectives from the 100 Precinct are investigating. Anybody with information on this case is urged to call the 100 Precinct Squad at 718-318-4266.
