Kudos To The 3’s

Dear Editor:

I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the fairly new car service in Arverne, which most local residents refer to as the 3’s. When all other means of transportation failed they came through for me and my family on Monday 12/27/10. You see my daughter is a dialysis patient who does her dialysis at home; she lives in Brooklyn. She spent the Xmas holiday with me, her father, and siblings. She became stranded due to the blizzard, and could not get home to administer her dialysis because it was now going on three days since she last dialyzed. The A train and buses were down and unavailable. EMS could not transport her to Brooklyn; The Police Department said they could not leave the district to take her to Brooklyn; they mentioned that they could take her to the nearest hospital. All other local taxi service was not available. Streets were ridiculous to walk, it was crazy. I phoned the 3’s, and to my surprise they were available. At this point my daughter was getting weaker by the moment and she needed to dialyze ASAP. The gentleman at the car service assured me that he would not leave us hanging; he said it may take a while but that he would get to us. I mentioned that he could not drive down Beach 72 Street to my home due to the storm conditions. So myself, another daughter and my granddaughter walked to meet the car service at Beach Channel Drive and Beach 72 Street. Sure enough the car service was there waiting for us. We were so happy to see that he kept his word and I was elated that my daughter would get home and remedy this problem. The 3’s came through in flying colors. Kudos to the 3’s. It’s a pleasure to see that we as a community can work together for the good of our residents in Arverne. Thanks again.
