Bay Body Mystery Deepens
Official sources say that the unidentified black man in his 30’s who was found on a small beach adjoining a Broad Channel house on Thursday, April 14 has not yet been identified and no cause of death has yet been determined, more than a week after a passerby noticed the body.
Sources say that patrol officers responding to a call of an unresponsive male on the shoreline near 931 Shad Creek Road, right across the street from Public School 47, found the body at about 7:27 a.m. on Thursday.
Fire Department EMTs also responding to the call declared the man DOA on the scene.
His body was transported by EMS ambulance to the office of the city’s Chief Medical Examiner. The ME will attempt to determine the identity of the man and his cause of death, sources say.
This week, a spokesperson for the ME told The Wave that an autopsy had been performed, but that it was inconclusive and that the case is “still pending further investigation,” which usually means that the ME is awaiting toxicology tests that may take up to a month to complete.
A spokesperson for the police department says that the identification of the deceased is also pending, but that the case is still active and being investigated.
Detectives from the 100 Precinct are investigating. Anybody with information on this case is urged to call the 100 Precinct Squad at 718-318-4266.
