January 2011 Employee of the Month
Aubrey Jones, Security Supervisor
At St. John’s Episcopal Hospital since 2001, Aubrey Jones, Security, was named January’s Employee of the Month in particular for his appropriate mediation of a conflict between a guest and an ambulette driver, which took place outside the Hospital. “Officer Jones should be commended for his professionalism in addressing this matter,” the guest wrote in a letter she sent to the Hospital, so moved was she by Officer Jones’s helpful behavior. He instructed the driver to call 911 and kept the agitated parties away from each other and allowed everyone to feel safe and protected. Officer Jones exemplifies the Hospital’s service standards of Responsibility, Respect and Professionalism.
Ninwattie Sandy Bhagroo
A recent satisfied patient family wrote of Ninwattie Sandy Bhagroo, RN, Tower 8/ Pulmonary Care Center: “Whether she was assigned to our mom or not, each day she would make a point of stopping in to check on her, as well as us. She knew all our names, greeted us with hugs and kisses, and remained to talk, showing a genuine interest in what was being said. She is very down to earth and made it easy to ask even the silliest of questions.” At SJEH since 2000, Bhagroo reflects the service standards of Compassion and Respect. “She also is known for her teamwork,” adds Lin Zabala, Nurse Manager of the St. John’s Pulmonary Care Center. “The surgical residents praise Ms. Bhagroo all the time,” Zabala added.
Caroline Afflick, Access Care Coordinator, gets glowing reviews from patients and co-workers. Recently a family member of a patient wrote: “Usually we all only complain when things don’t go well; I want to compliment a member of your staff, Caroline. She was competent, responsible and friendly, and helped me through a difficult process. I had the opportunity to work with Caroline due to the death of my aunt.
My kudos to her — please give her praise from your organization. She is terrific at customer service.”
Afflick, who has been at St. John’s full time since 1997, embodies the service standards of Responsibility, Compassion and Respect. “What sets Caroline apart is her caring and need to do the right thing,” says Anthony Vuozzo, Administrative Director for Access Care.
