Community Weekend A Success

Jerry Nevin Community Ambassador of Modell’s Sporting Goods states, “I was extremely enthused to be at the Five Towns store location to present our donation check for $2,089.87 to Steven McCartney (Rockaway Walks) and Healthy Lifestyle Changes Inc. It was a tremendous way of celebrating our involvement with the local community by having Linda Alfred the Principal of Fredrick Douglas Academy and her distinguished student athletes Christopher Williams, David Williams, Charlesworth Browne, Joachin Turner, Troy Harper, Franklin Barrowes, and Deandrae Spriggs in addition to Eric Matza representing St John’s Episcopal Hospital out on site at our 5 Town Modell’s Store (Scott Grumet manager). Steven McCartney and Healthy Lifestyle Changes Inc. are a local non-profit that should be an example for us all in the way that he brings others together for a greater purpose and indeed a better community.”

McCartney a Physical Education Candidate at York College states that “Portion of money will help buy some needed equipment for the school of Frederick Douglass Academy and items for St. John Episcopal Hospital annual children Christmas party. For the last five years Modell’s has been supportive of the Rockaway Walks summer program. I am extremely happy in making a difference in improving our community and thank full to Councilman James Sanders Jr. and organizations like Peninsula Hospital, Joseph Addabbo Health Center, Stop and Shop, Office Max, The Wave Newspaper and Affinity Health Plan in support during Modell’s Community Weekend.”
