Dolphins Keep Winning

What a difference two weeks make for the Beach Channel/Channel View girls lacrosse team. The defending PSAL champions were working in a new players on the roster when they lost to Midwood and Tottenville in the first two games of the season.

The Lady Dolphins have turned it around by winning their sixth in a row with an impressive 7-1 win on Tuesday against Midwood.

“We’re playing better now,” said senior midfielder Whitney Brown, who added two goals to her team leading total of 31. Sabina Triunfel and Kavelle Lawrence each scored twice for the Lady Dolphins. Tabitha Rosario added the other goal for Beach Channel (6-2), who went up against first place Tottenville (8-0) at presstime.

“What’s been better has been the team defensive effort up and down the field,” said Beach Channel coach Sam Innes. We’re winning groundballs now. We’re making smart passes. We’re balanced in our offense now and that’s much better.”

Sophomore goalkeeper Tianna Parkes says the team is working harder. “We’re way better.communication. Everyone is playing their position better. We understand the game way better.”

Martinez Wins At Mayor’s Cup

Far Rockaway track and field senior Wilson Martinez won top honors in the triple jump last Saturday at the NYC’s Mayor Cup on Randalls Island by recording a leap of 23 feet and 2 inches.

Baseball- Kevin Marmolejos pitched his second nohitter of the season and struck out 10 on April 6 as Beach Channel/Channel View (5-0) defeated Springfield Gardens 23-1.
