SJEH Hosts Jay And The Americans For Fundraiser

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital held a sold-out fundraiser featuring the 1960s hit-making singing group, Jay and the Americans, on Thursday, April 7, at the Woodmere Country Club. The original group hailed from Belle Harbor and attended Far Rockaway High School. The group sang their hits, “Cara Mia” and “This Magic Moment,” and others, as well as covers of hits of the ’60s and ’70s, to enthusiastic acclaim from the crowd of 300.

The Development Board of St. John’s used the occasion to honor Hospital staff members including: Employee of 2010 Charles McNeill; Manager of 2010 Patricia Gillespie; Team of the Year Ambulatory Surgery; and Physician of the Year Raymond Pastore, MD. A special presentation was awarded to Hospital staff member Kevin Lynch, for donating a kidney to a co-worker in need.

All proceeds of events held by the Development Board of St. John’s Episcopal Hospital are dedicated to the cardiac, intensive, surgical care services as well as the Emergency Department.
