New Traffic Light Set For Hicksville And Beach 9 St.

A new traffic light, to be located at the intersection of Beach 9 Street and Hicksville Road, has been approved by the Department of Transportation, the office of Councilman James Sanders Jr. announced last week. Several schools including PS 197 (pictured) and Bnos Bais Yaakov, and two playgrounds, including Lanett Playground, are in the area. “This is an area heavily populated by young families with school children, and can get heavy with foot traffic when school lets out. Cars have been flying through this intersection for years, posing a danger to pedestrians in the area. Finally, we are going to get the traffic controls we need, said Sanders.” According to the councilman, construction should be completed by July 31 of this year.
