Gateway Sets Weekend Activities

Gateway National Recreation Area promises some activities for people of all ages this weekend, April 9 and 10.

Kids Outdoors: Nature Detectives

Youth ages 8-10, with an adult, will use their observational powers and clues found along the trail to discover a national park teaming with surprising wildlife. Participants will record their observations in their own nature journal and decorate it themselves. Reservations are required: 718-318- 4340.

Birding Bennett

Join naturalist Ron Bourque in welcoming early bird migrants back to Floyd Bennett Field. The varied habitats of this site may yield phoebes, killdeer, Wilson’s snipe and others.

Bye, Bye Buckthorn! Invasive Plant Removal

Join this National Volunteer Week effort and help rid the park of damaging invasive plants. Groups are welcome. Gloves and tools will be provided. Call 718-318-4340 to sign-up.
