Rebecca Sue Carter, a longtime Rockaway resident, died March 18.

Carter was born in Charleston, West Virginia. She worked as a nurse at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital.

Carter was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey and Ivory Carter; siblings, Lola Ann, Joan, Diane and Ivory Jr.; and longtime companion, Lawrence Jones.

She is survived by her daughter, Iesha; son-in-law, Genero; grandson, Rajan; and siblings, Brenda, Jenny, Cardel, Ina Mae and Ricky.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jeremiah C. Gaffney Friendship Chapel, Inwood, New York. Interment took place at Greenfield Cemetery, Hempstead, New York.
