Create A Better America

The following letter was sent to Congressman Peter T. King.

Dear Congressman King,

My husband and I write to express our deep concern with respect to your intention to pursue public hearings on the American Muslim community. While we were both in New York on September 11, 2001, there is a present need to move on and structure our economic and political system so that everyone will benefit.

We are cognizant that there are homegrown and international terrorist organizations at work to destroy our country; however, as Americans we cannot paint the Muslim community with the same brush. We know better and must work together to create a better America.

We were always under the impression that you were a champion of the principles which Paul O’Dwyer stood for. Your course of conduct in conducting these selective hearings diminishes what we “all” stood for in securing Human Rights for Catholics in Northern Ireland.

We hope that you will reconsider your position on conducting these hearings and get down to the work of the people. These proceedings would only instill more fear and mistrust than anything you could learn from the testimony of witnesses.
