A Call For Artists:

Rockaway Artists Alliance, Inc. is pleased to announce a call for artists for our first ever miniature golf interactive art exhibit.

Our ambition is to host a six week art exhibit that encourages visitors to pick up the putter and explore a collection of themed mixed-media pieces in the backyard of sTudio 7, RoCA at Fort Tilden.

RAA is a proud partner of Gateway National Recreation Area. Fort Tilden and the studios we occupy are rich in a history that is as diverse as our organization.

In keeping with this theme, each submitted piece should fit into one of the following categories:

- Geography: “Rockaway - An urban city by the sea”

- History: “From the Air Force to the Navy and Coast Guard”

- Immigration/Diversity: “Queens - The Greatest Melting Pot in the World”

- Environment: “RAA’s 40 Shades of Green”

Of course, we include these categories only as a starting point. We encourage submission of all ideas for “RAA Miniature Golf Interactive Art Exhibit.”

Dates: July 16, 2011 - September 4, 2011 (tentative)

Entry Information: Round 1 - Concept Submission

Entry Fee: Round 1 - Waived for members, $25 for non-members

Deadline: Friday, April 8, 2011

All concept submissions should be emailed to info@raa116.org, subject heading: “Mini-Golf Submission.” Images, if necessary, may be attached as a jpeg.

Each entry, if chosen, must ultimately be constructed as an independently functioning miniature golf hole. For the concept submission, please include the theme, a schematic representation (either written or visual) of how individuals will play the course, and a list of materials required (including all electrical requirements). If chosen, artists/- designers are responsible for constructing the piece and for obtaining all materials necessary.

During the selection process, we will notify you if it is determined that RAA can handle a part of construction process and/or materials needed.

Please do not hesitate to e-mail the office at info@raa116.org with questions and comments; subject heading: Mini- Golf. RAA CONTACT INFO:
