BCAC To Celebrate 50thAnniversary
Trivia question – which of the following events occurred in the year 1961? a) An unknown band named the Beatles performed for the first time at the Cavern Club. b) John F. Kennedy was inaugurated as the 35th President of the United States of America. c) Diana, Princess of Whales is born in Sandringham, Norfolk, England. d) The Broad Channel Athletic Club was formed or e) All of the above.
If you answered e) all of the above then you are correct and finally ready to participate in trivia night. Obviously that question served as a segue to mentioning that this year the Broad Channel Athletic Club (BCAC) will be celebrating its 50th Anniversary, also known as the Golden Jubilee.
So instead of waiting until the last second, plans for the big event are already under way. All summer long there will be Mardi Gras events to support the BCAC. Rumor has it that current Mayor Timmy Hanning may be seeking to run for another term.
The big event, of course, will be the 50th Anniversary dinner to be held on Saturday, September 17. The festivities will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Rockaway starting at 7 p.m. and ending at 12 a.m.
It is promising to be an entertaining night with plenty to eat and drink. More importantly, the night will feature old friends and lots of memories. So please, mark the date on your calendar and be ready to attend what is shaping up to be the event of the year. Chairman of the event, Jack Connelly, is already traveling the country in order to spread the word to past members.
If you have any pictures or home movies that would pertain to the BCAC, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The BCAC would like to share them with everyone that night. You can also email us if you are interested in taking out a personalized ad in the 50th Anniversary journal. You can also contact Jack Connelly, Marty Feeney or Mike Kelly with any questions you may have.
So be ready to party with 50 years worth of BCAC Shamrocks on September 17.
See you there!
