Friends and neighbors turned out in large numbers on Friday evening March 4 to assist in the break-down of the Little North Pole Christmas lighting event, which is held every year during the month of December at the Neponsit home of Joe Mure.

The event is staged to raise funds for the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Peninsula Hospital Center Juvenile Diabetes Unit, and other hospitals that are doing research for children that live with diabetes. The break-down had been postponed due to inclement weather.

Mure said this was another great year, raising more than $157,000, with all proceeds going to Juvenile Diabetes.

Mure expressed his deepest gratitude, on behalf of

J.D.R.F and P.H.C., to the entire Rockaway community for their continued support, and a real big shout out to all those who participated in the break down on Friday evening, among them, our local Graybeards, the Rockaway Jetty, Cosmo Damiano, neighbors, and friends.
