BCAC Awards Ceremony Honors Football Players And Cheerleaders
The Broad Channel Athletic Club’s Football and Cheerleader program closed out the 2010 year with their annual awards ceremony last Sunday with a luncheon held at St. Camillus. Football Commissioner Gene Guttieri welcomed the packed house, congratulating the parents and children, thanking them for the program’s success.
All the players were loudly cheered as they were introduced and received a trophy for their efforts during the season. The PeeWees team for their Super Bowl appearance and the Seniors team for their Super Bowl win were greeted with a standing ovation.
The Seniors players will move on to play at high schools such as Holy Cross, Christ the King and Xavier. Also recognized was Volunteer of the Year Steve Finegan for his dedicated service during the year. Coaches Pete Ward, John Kelly and Jim Manfre were recognized for their years of service to the Football program and the BCAC. Then came the moment all had been waiting for, the MVP and All Star awards:
PeeWees: MVP–Matthew McDonagh; MVP Offense – Nicholas Meehan; MVP Defense–Ryan Ehret; Offensive Lineman–Michael Butkiewics; Defensive Lineman– Giancarlo Conti; All Stars–John Tansey and Ryan Hanning; Coach’s Award–Liam Doda.
Midget: MVP–Timmy McCabe; MVP Offense-Ian Byrne; MVP Defense– Bryan Bostwick; Offensive Lineman–Michael O’Connell; Defensive Lineman–Johnny Weiss; All Stars-Dillon Ostrander and Danny Clark; Coach’s Award–Michael Henglein.
Pony: MVP–Rob Kullmer, MVP Offense-Danny Hoff; MVP Defense– Jordan Jessup; Offensive Lineman– Kyle Hilgendorf; Defensive Lineman– Mike Edwards; All Stars Charlie Bostwick and John Nolan; Coach’s Award–Bobby Martin.
Senior’s: MVP-Paul Yodice; MVP Offense-Thomas Kelly; MVP Defense– Chris Manfre; Offensive Lineman– Bryan Collado; Defensive Lineman– Steve Ambrosino; All Stars– Andrew Conklin and James Marotta; Coach’s Award– Tim Panetta.
Commissioners Award: Overall MVP of Program; Paul Yodice (Seniors).
Commissioner Guttieri will be at the BCAC Field on Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., in order to collect any outstanding equipment. He reminded the crowd that in order keep the children playing, the return of equipment is important. The BCAC Football Shamrocks will begin registration for the fall season on Saturdays in June. This year will be the 50th Anniversary of the organization and all are looking for another outstanding season.
