Kearney Students ‘Think Pink’
Bishop Kearney High School’s students joined hundreds of athletes in over 600 schools and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association in raising breast cancer awareness across the country. Kearney’s team members wore special pink numbered tops for the game and the cheerleaders wore pink knee socks and sold homemade cupcakes and brownies decorated with pink tops. Donations were sent to the Kay Yow/WBCA Cancer Fund and Memorial Sloan Kettering Pediatrics Unit. The donation to Sloan Kettering was sent in honor of Caitlin Martin and Maggie Russo, young daughters of Kearney alumnae, who have been treated successfully at that center.
The cheerleaders are pictured showing off their pink socks.
