Elinor Nesdil, a longtime Rockaway resident, died February 15.
Nesdil was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived in Rockaway for 48 years. She was the past president of St. Rose of Lima St. Vincent de Paul Society, 25-year staff member of Peninsula Hospital Center and long time volunteer of “The Cancer Shop” on Beach 129 Street.
Nesdil was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur.
She is survived by her sons, Alan, James and Edward; daughters, Katherine Albergo, Daureen Nesdil, JoAnne Neas, Eileen Valenti, CarolAnne Brucato, Barbara Bergman and MaryAnne Leisenring; sisters, Harriet Nolet and Adele Lynn; and 15 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Denis S. O’Connor Funeral Home, Rockaway Beach. Visitation will take place on Friday, February 18, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. A funeral mass will take place at St. Rose of Lima Church, Rockaway Beach on Saturday, February 19, at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Brooklyn, New York.
