Here Today – Here Tomorrow

Dear Editor,

Despite current rumors, Bishop Kearney High School is Alive and Well! Reports that Bishop Kearney is closing, that Bishop Kearney is merging or that Bishop Kearney is going co-ed are all lies. The fact that these rumors are being perpetuated by individuals considered to be “reliable” sources is even more disturbing.

Seventy-three percent of Bishop Kearney’s graduating class of 2010 earned $23,841,000 in college scholarships. One hundred percent of the class of 2010 graduated. Ninety-eight percent of the class of 2010 is presently pursuing degrees in respected, accredited, prestigious colleges and universities. The remaining two percent are attending technical schools. The graduating class of 2011 is already hot on the heels of their predecessors. These facts speak for themselves!

So, readers, be advised that Bis-hop Kearney High School is NOT closing, is NOT merging and is NOT going coed.

As Bishop Kearney High School prepares to celebrate its 50th Anniversary next year, it stands tall, strong in its past, proud of its present and firm in its future, as it continues, in the words of Bishop McEntegert at Kearney’s dedication in 1961, “.…to provide these young women with an education second to none.”

So, “reliable” sources, what do you have to say now? The truth indicates that you are not so “reliable” after all!
