The Breezy Point Community is made up of loving, caring, religious, 95 percent white Americans, mostly of Irish decent.

That is why it was originally called, the ”Irish Rivera.” Since then many new residents have moved in with various ethnic backgrounds and the community welcomes them. And, that is why I was so appalled when I heard a black van driver say to me that she stopped at the gate and asked directions because she had never been to this area, and was told, “Go straight, you dummy.”

That remark reflects the attitude of the community and should be stopped. No one who works for the Breezy Point Cooperative should put anyone down. Every human being is entitled to be treated with respect and should be greeted in a courteous way. I am sure all of the residents agree with me and agree this person at the gate should be reprimanded and held as an example of what should never, never be done. I was so embarrassed for the rudeness this black driver experienced that I told her I would do something about it. Be aware of the feelings of others. There is no excuse for putting another person down. A word to the wise should be sufficient and I am sure this will never happen again in a community where the warmth of love and caring and religion runs through every fiber of its being.

Don’t think that I am not in good company when I go running to events around NYC. Here I am on the HOTLINE talking to President Obama. He had no comment………no wonder. It was just a likeness of him at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum on 42nd Street at their event party. If you have never been there, please go. The likenesses are unbelievable. ….so real you can feel their presence. (And some even look better in wax).

If you are looking to buy a new car next year, wait and buy it at the Auto show at the Javit’s Center. You can save $1000 on the price of a car. Savings, too at the Boat show. But, you can’t beat Yamaha for the price on small boats. The Gifts Show is such a beautiful show at which to browse the paper goods, jewelry, lingerie, gold leaf dinnerware and precious artifacts.

At the Italian Tourist Office I learned about Lazio, Italy with their luscious vineyards and beautiful countryside. It is located on the west side of Italy in the middle of the boot. Rome is the capital and within hiking distance of the Pope.

Preferred Hotels introduced us to their exquisite hotels all over the world, some under the name of Starwood, at the elegant Hurricane Restaurant on the corner of East 26th Street and Park Avenue. It is a huge restaurant with crystal chandeliers, high ceilings, open bars throughout several area rooms and food galore. Just book Preferred Hotels and I am sure you will have a magnificent experience.

If you are a fan of William Shakespeare or would like to know more about him, the Morgan Library is featuring The Changing Faces of William Shakespeare that runs through Apr. 8.

At the Muse Hotel, 130 West 46 Stret, hoteliers from North Carolina spoke about the Kayaking Free Style Championship in 2013, the US Open and US Women’s Open on Don Ross, the newly restored masterpiece golf course in 2014. Film making is big business there, and it is home of the brave Civil War heroes. It commemorates the 150 Anniversary of the Civil War. And I tasted some of the fine North Carolina wines from their vineyards.

South Carolina was here in NYC at the same time and had an exquisite exhibit at the Park Ave Armory where they displayed beautiful antiques, historical portraits and unique furniture.

Taiwan chose the Andaz Hotel for its presentation. This is a brand new Hyatt boutique hotel. The Shop is their restaurant which serves very flavorful food. (My taste buds jumped with joy with each bite of their special tasting five course menu New Year’s Eve. What a way to say, “By By” to 2010. You may want to stop in for lunch or dinner. Their prices are reasonable. And, the food is GOOD! Taiwan brought us here on another night to tell us they are merging with iEXPLORE, a very successful tour operator. They are issuing travel vouchers for $100 for USA and Canadian travelers throughout Taiwan between Jan 1 and June 30.
