At the next RAA general meeting on February 14 (see Fort Tilden Highlights box) Dan Guarino will be portraying American president, Nobel Prize-winning statesman and natural ist

Theodore Roosevelt. It will be interactive, engaging the audience, as though TR (as he was often called) himself is speaking to the audience members, bringing to life one of the most colorful and interesting figures in our history.

“Rockaway Artists Unframed” slideshow DVDs are now available for pick-up and purchase at the RAA office.

RAA Writers Group Goes on the Road: To celebrate the exhibit “RAA on the Bay” at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge visitor center, RAA will be holding an event in which the RAA Writers Group will be featured. “Words … for the Birds and Art in the Park,” is Sunday, February 27, 2-4 p.m in the visitor center. Readings of prose and poetry, short plays and play scenes, and acoustic music will give added meaning to the paintings, photos, prints and sculptures of “RAA on the Bay” – all inspired by the grace and beauty that surround the bird sanctuary.

The event is free and open to the public. The refuge is located in Broad Channel on Cross Bay Boulevard. Jamaica Bay Refuge is a glorious experience in nature, even in the winter. To learn more about the refuge: http://www.nyharborparks.org/visit/ jaba.html or call 718-318-4340.

If you have an idea or a contact for venues to host a Writers Group event, or can recommend or volunteer a guest speaker for a group meeting, get in touch with Dan Guarino at: TWCgxwgj@aol.com
