SJEH Appoints Infectious Diseases Chief


Alina Sanda, MD, Chief of Infectious Diseases, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. Alina Sanda, MD, Chief of Infectious Diseases, St. John’s Episcopal Hospital. St. John’s Episcopal Hospital recently named Alina Sanda, MD, as the Interim Chief of Infectious Diseases. Dr. Sanda will be responsible for the administrative and clinical responsibilities of Infectious Diseases at St. John’s.

Dr. Sanda said about her new position, “Like every Infectious Diseases department, I consider all hospitalacquired and community-acquired infections a challenge. Infectious Diseases physicians diagnose and treat respiratory tract infections, as well as urinary tract infections, central nervous system infections, and skin and soft tissue infections, to mention a few. I’m excited to get to know St. John’s Episcopal Hospital and its staff and the community.”

Dr. Sanda holds dual board certifications in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. She earned her medical degree from University of Medicine and Pharmacy Carol Davila in Bucharest, Romania. She did her residency in internal medicine at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago and completed an infectious diseases fellowship at Westchester Medical Center, New York Medical College.
