SFDS Girls Start CYO Championship Title Race

The fifth grade St. Francis De Sales girls won a thrilling game on Sunday, edging OL Hope 20-15 before a loud home crowd and some loud Hope fans! Jessica Morelli led a balanced attack with 6 points. Claire Hughes, Sinead Gallagher, and Katie Marquardt came up with some big baskets. Carli McCann, Maddie McDade, and Grace DeCrescenzo starred on the defensive end. Thanks to both third grade boys teams for cheering loudly and then storming the court after the game.

The novice girls are on to the CYO Diocesan Playoffs and then our Peggy Boyle Tournament with a 14-0 record in the league and 16-2 overall.

The Inermediate girls played an awesome game despite finishing their regular season with a 37-33 loss to Resurrection. The CYO girls playoffs begin this weekend. The Pee Wee Blue travel to Corpus Christi in Woodside to battle St. Helen at 11 a.m. on Saturday. The Gold goes to St. Joan of Arc in Jackson Heights at 5 p.m. for a game against Sacred Heart of Glendale. The Novice girls visit St. Patrick in Bay Ridge to play Nativity at 4:30 p.m. The Rookies play on Sunday at 5 p.m. at St. Ann in Flushing against St. Raphael. The Bantams drew a bye and play their first game on February 6, while the Intermediates start on February 12.
