Fact-Checking The Progressive

Dear Editor,

The Progressive (TP) states, “Truth is, most government employees are paid less than comparable employees in private industry.”

Fact check:

The Employer Costs for Employee Compensation survey from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, December 2009, state and local government employees earned total compensation of $39.60 an hour, compared to $27.42 an hour for private industry workersa difference of over 44 percent. This includes 35 percent higher wages and nearly 69 percent greater benefits.

I tried to check the website of the National Association of State Administrators that TP pointed out but TP did not say which one. There are hundreds of different ones, could you help a brother out with some facts. Once again I have to state, if progressives thought with their heads instead of their hearts they would not be progressives.
